Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM)
Founded in 1898, LSTM was the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in tropical medicine and has led the field in the fight against infectious, debilitating and disabling diseases ever since. LSTM is a registered charity working in partnership with health ministries, universities, research institutions and NGOs in over 60 countries worldwide to improve the health of the world's poorest people, bringing research innovation and scientific breakthroughs from the lab to those most in need. LSTM’s work in combating diseases such as TB, HIV/AIDS, malaria, dengue and lymphatic filariasis is supported by a research portfolio of £192 million. The new Centre for Tropical and Infectious Diseases is a £23 million state of the art facility for developing new drugs, vaccines and pesticides which puts LSTM at the forefront of infectious disease research.

Tomorrow's Company - is the agenda setting ‘think and do’ tank which looks at the role of business and how to achieve enduring business success. We focus on strong relationships, and clear purpose and values as the foundation of effective leadership and governance. We believe that business can and must be a 'force for good'. This in turn requires a strengthening of stewardship by shareholders. We argue that the Age of Sustainability has begun, and that in the future success and value creation will come from recognising the ‘triple context’ – the links between the economic, social and environmental sub-systems on which we all depend, and the opportunities this brings.

New Blue Earth Roundtable is a Swiss registered non-profit organization founded in September 2009. We believe that a critical mass of people are required to bring about a ‘New Blue Earth’ which can contribute to the creation of a more sustainable, just and fulfilling world in harmony with nature and with each other. We envisage humanity will evolve from its current status to a planetary eco-civilization via individual and collective transformation which could be accelerated by and through societal, economic and environmental shifts and modifications, among others which could be further impacted by global crises such as financial market downturns, pandemics, droughts, famines and a general change of climate globally. We are therefore calling upon a critical mass of people to establish integral Sustainable Communities around the globe and to contribute to the development of a new Eco-civilization that can encourage cohesive Cooperative -living in Harmony, Creativity and Scientific Development.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service provides a wide range of emergency response and prevention services. It has 26 Fire Stations and a Marine Rescue Unit who protect and respond to the 1.4 million residents of Merseyside. Its Home Fire Safety Check programme is at the heart of the prevention strategy and the Service has fitted over 1 million free smoke detectors. It has wide-ranging activities to engage with the community and help make Merseyside safer, stronger and healthier which has led to the Service becoming a Beacon Authority for older people, early intervention (children at risk) and health inequalities. The Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology - is the largest international multireligious project of its kind, being engaged in exploring religious worldviews, texts, and ethics in order to broaden understanding of the complex nature of current environmental concerns. The Forum recognizes that religions need to be in dialogue with other disciplines (e.g., science, ethics, economics, education, public policy, gender) in seeking comprehensive solutions to both global and local environmental problems.

Liverpool Cathedral: As the largest Cathedral in the UK and fifth largest Anglican Cathedral in the world, Liverpool Cathedral is an impressive place. It is the Mother Church of the Diocese of Liverpool, serving a population of 1.53 million in an area of 389 sq miles. Designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, the building was completed in 1978 after 74 years, and owes its construction to the skills, dedication and fundraising of people from across the Diocese. Above all else, the Cathedral’s Mission is to proclaim that Jesus Christ is alive and that His Gospel is true and relevant to today's world. The Cathedral must seek to live out the Christian faith, a faith rooted and grounded in the life of Jesus Christ. The Cathedral is a centre of worship and celebration, exploring the mystery and glory of God and responding to His love, and pursuing a vision to do risky things in His service. It is a centre of Learning, obeying Christ's commission to make known the Gospel through preaching, worship, education programmes and special events such as art installations, music and debates. It is a centre of hospitality, welcoming all of our visitors from all corners of the globe, and affirming our common humanity.

We are already world leaders in so many ways: we have a world class University, world class football teams, and the regeneration of our city centre over the last five years has made ours a world class city for retail and leisure. It is because Liverpool is a leader in so many ways that Liverpool City Council is proud to support the Global Leaders Congress. We want to welcome leaders from around the world to our city, to share their views on how the international community can come together to provide united solutions to the problems we face.
